Smart Reef Actions

• General information

Actions are the feature that integrates our Smart devices. You can add Actions to different devices and create Actions between them.

Actions integrate the devices added to the same Aquarium, so please make sure that before you start to create Actions you have all the devices assigned to the same aquarium (menu on the left in the Smart Reef panel).

Open

We are going to integrate Dosing Pump and Power switcher with KH keeper. Please make sure that your Dosing Pump firmware is up to date.

You can update your device from the Smart Reef panel.

• Compatible devices

We frequently update our devices and Smart reef panel. Some devices may be acquiring new Action features with the updates. Please check the list below:

Action triggering:

• Where to find the Actions panel?

It’s available in the menu on the left under your tank, in this case, A Sps (new system).

When you click on Actions it takes you to this panel:

• How to start using Actions?

Please click add action

Next, the Action creation screen should appear:

In this step it is required to choose KH keeper:

Next step: choose the command from the list:

The choice depends on you. If you want to create the Action to add extra liquid when the kH level is below the desired level, then we choose KH is below. When we want to skip part of the next dose then please choose KH is above. In the example, we will show you how both Actions work.

Please choose KH is below

Next, enter a value (when the KH keeper result will be below the specific level of your desired dkH then the system will add an extra dose)

For this example, we chose 7 dkH.

Then select the pump for the integration (we can do the same Action several times for different pumps)

In this example, we have chosen the kH pump

Next, we need to choose an Action that will be triggered when the dkH level is below 7.

In this step, you can see all the available Actions. So for the lower dkH level, we can use manual dose in ml or manual dose % from the last dose.

We will choose manual dose % from the last dose - This means that when your kH level will be below the 7 kH level, then Dosing pump/s will add an extra dose increased by % based on the last dose.

In this example, we typed 30% so when the kH level is below 7 the system will add an extra 30% liquid calculated from the last dose. So if your last dose (before measurement) was 9 ml then the Dosing pump will add extra 3 ml.

The Enter delay function is the number of minutes the pump will delay. This feature is helpful when you have 2 or more pumps. We don’t want to add all the liquids at one time. So when you add the next pump to the Action please enter a delay here, for instance, 2 minutes. So the second pump will dose 2 minutes after the first one. When there are more than two, then the next pump should be also delayed. See the example below. You can set the delay this way:

Pump 1: 0

Pump 2: 2

Pump 3: 4

Pump 4: 6

Next please click OK

If you want to add another pump to the Action please click ADD TASK. If you don’t want to add more then click the SAVE button

• How to configure Actions when kH level is above specific result?

Again please click ADD ACTION

Next please choose KH keeper from the list

Please select Kh is above

Enter kH level - above this level Dosing pump/s will skip the next dose or part of it. For the example, we typed 8 (kH)

Next please select the pump you want to integrate for this Action.

Then we choose to skip part of the next dose

Then please click OK

If you want to add the next Dosing pump to this Action then please click ADD TASK but if you want to add only one then just click SAVE.

• How to configure Actions when the kH level is between set limits?

In some cases, you may want your pumps or Power switcher to perform an action when the kH value is between particular values. To add another action please click ADD ACTION

Next please choose KH keeper from the list

Please select Kh is Between

Enter kH limits for the Kh is Between Action - when the action is between these values the Action will be executed.

Next please select the pump or Power switcher you want to integrate for this Action.

In this case, we chose the Power switcher that operates the calcium reactor.

Then we choose to skip part of the next dose

Then please click OK

• Multiple tasks performed under one Action

You can set multiple commands for your action to perform many different tasks when the event is triggered.

If you want to add the next task to this Action then please click ADD TASK but if you want to add only one then just click SAVE.

If you add several tasks to the Actions then the screen can look like this.

Thank you for your time. Those are the first two Actions that you can use to keep your kH on your desired level.

New Actions for KH keeper and other devices will be shared with you in near future.
